They’ve dominated the sciences taught in schools from grades 1-12 for at least the last century. But are they still relevant?
Here are the facts.
- The number of jobs in robotics is expected to grow by 22% from 2020 to 2030.
- The average salary for robotics engineers is over USD 100,000.
- Robotics education is available in over 100 countries around the world.
- There are over 100,000 robotics clubs and organizations in the United States.
- Robotics education is becoming increasingly popular in K-12 schools.
So tell me, why do we teach Biology and Chemistry as the two mandatory sciences in 2023?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to teach programming and robotics in grades 1-10? Then we could take a year of Biology and a year of Chemistry.
Then the bulk of our population would be ready for the future, and those niche students who go into medicine, chemistry, and natural science would have a foundation for college-level studies.
