Half times are an essential part of sports games. It’s a planned reset for resting and planning adjustments.

Do you need a break?

If it’s time to ask that question, then it’s likely you haven’t planned your resets.

When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love.

In weight training, we have what we call “deload week”.

It goes like this:

  • 1 Week of Preload: New exercises at lighter weights less volume of sets.
  • 6-12 Weeks of Overload: Full throttle, all-in, heavy pushing, increasing weight each week – high pressure, high intensity.
  • 1 Week of Deload: Half the weight, less sets, less total volume of exercises. Plus, 2-3 extra days off at the end of the week.

Personally, I look forward to deload week.

It’s a planned break.

And because it’s planned, and because it has specific beneifts, there’s no need for a break.

There’s no burn out or overexhaustion.

This post is not about working out.

It’s about a life lesson that can be applied to business teams, school initiatives, personal relationships, and all areas of life and work.

Hoping you take time to appreciate the simple joys of life and to take time to rejuvenate our minds and spirits.
