Engineering Hope

In yesterday’s post, we examined the effect of making impact visible. Let’s make a connection to another concept that you know about.

Small wins.

We know the path to large gains and big goals is comprised of small steps. Bit-sized wins along the way accumulate into great improvements.

All of the goal-setting books and coaches talk about getting small wins first. Really it’s more than just reaching a small goal. A small win is actually about hope. A small win gives the confidence that we can reach a larger win.

When you engineer early successes in a change initiative, you’re doing more than just celebrating growth. You’re engineering hope. And that’s what great leaders do.

PS – In addition to hope, tomorrow’s podcast episode will give leadership strategies that you can use to empower your people.
