What do you do when dreams are shattered?
Have you ever experienced your dreams crumbling around you? Whether because you let them go or because they are taken from you.
It’s like reality is shifting faster than the momentary sands in the surf. There’s a wave of uncertainty that pulls deeply at your soul.
I wish this feeling on no one. Yet everyone who has lost their dreams knows the feeling. It’s that state of being where your whole identity is stripped from you.
There you are, just another organic being on Earth. Lost among stardust and stargazes. Bare and barely existing. Without desire or passion. You can’t remain there for long. It will consume you.
So what does someone do after losing all hope of the dreams they once held dear?
I suppose there’s really only one thing to do. Dream again.
Total loss is devastating, but it’s not without its treasure.
Vision from Scraps
You can sift through the shards and remains to find those pieces that still hold a spark. It will take time, persistence, and devotion. But it’s worth it.
New seeds will grow again into a vision that gives you life.
You can find your vision after your dreams have been shattered. You can regain your direction and rediscover your purpose. But first, there is work to do.
Work Before Vision
Total loss is devastating, but it’s not without its treasure. You can regain your dreams with a little work. Maybe along these lines:
- Go back to your starting point.
- Where did you find your seeds for dreams in the first?
- Search for those same seeds. Were they in your work? Were they in your family or friends?
- Replant those seeds or discover new ones. Take time. Work on your self.
If you do the work that’s needed, your new seeds will grow again into a vision that gives you life. You will dream again.
