School Health, Culture, and Climate

Climate is the temperature of the school. It’s how people interact with the culture.

Culture is the combination of routines, rituals, habits, and beliefs of the school. It’s the engine.

School health is an overarching factor that encompasses culture and climate. It is the degree to which leadership teams unify and mobilize their people to achieve goals.

When school health increases, it results in:

  • cohesive communication
  • accelerated problem-solving
  • faster goal mastery
  • improved efficiency with resources

Climate can toxify. Culture can exist, but it can exist on the wrong path.

However, health is always about the right combination of purpose, conflict, communication, and execution. Health is solely focused on people.
